Presentation Overview: |
|
This
presentation is developed in a story format, with the
focus on balance and stress, making choices, risk
taking, and the possible outcomes. The presentation is
developed as a story relating the issues faced by a male
emergency physician and his struggles through a career,
divorce and single parenting, and the choice to take a
sabbatical in Barcelona, Spain. The story is developed
in a way that invites the audience to reflect on their
individual situations and to discover some ideas that
may create improvement for them. The final moments of
this story are particularly moving with an unusual
sharing of the drama of the family experience on the
sabbatical. |

Dr. Vickman will introduce the audience to a
musical and pictorial tour of Barcelona. He will
then tell the story of his personal journey in a
way that captures the audience. He will invite
others in the audience to ask themselves the
same questions he asked himself as a means of
involving the audience in the experience. He
will share the successes and failures, the
questions and his answers, and what he and the
family gained by this process. A recording of
the childrens personal reflections on the
sabbatical is offered at the end. Slides and
music are used to enrich the presentation at the
introduction and in the termination. It is
quite an emotional experience for the audience. |
